Experts warn that VAT on small business could have negative consequences for the economy.
Former Minister of Finances, Arben Malaj, said that the obligation to make survival businesses declare VAT could have a higher cost for them.
“The mission of small businesses is employment, self-employment. The negative consequences will be high”, Malaj said.
Zef Preci supports VAT for small business, saying that this leaves no room for evasion among the big business. But he warns that the initiative could result with negative consequences, since the government is leaving every cost to businesses.
“I haven’t seen any initiative to buy fiscal cases and distribute them to small businesses, or give technical support through tax employees. I see a lack of clarity among the public opinion regarding this process”, Preci said.
Businesses with an annual turnover of 2 million ALL will be included in small business, starting from April 1st.
