Exlusive, Ina Rama to Strasbourg as Judge

The former Prosecutor General, Ina Rama, Constitutional Court member,
Sokol Berberi and law expert Gent Ibrahimi were chosen as candidates to
represent Albania at the European Court of Human Rights, since the
mandate of the current judge has expired.

The Parliamentary Assembly at the Council of Europe will vote this October. The Commission that selects the candidates is made of Luan Omari, Kristaq Traja, Bashkim Dedja, Artan Hoxha and Artur Metani.

Top Channel sources say that the government has decided to stay far from this process. The Commission has summoned all seven candidates, but only six of them appeared. Due to the constitutional amends, the commission asked the candidates to bring all necessary documents, and also requested a report from the High Inspectorate of Asset Audit and Declaration.

None of the candidates were disqualified, but the Commission proposed three candidates for legal reasons, Sokol Berberi, Gent Ibrahimi and Ina Rama.

Xhezair Zaganjori, current President of the Supreme Court, has allegedly expressed his interest to quit his current duty and run for the Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
