Hiteshkumar Patel, wanted by Indian authorities for a major $725 million fraud in a New Delhi Bank, received political asylum in Albania.

Top Channel’s sources confirm that his request for political asylum was approved by the end of November, making it impossible for Indian authorities to deport the suspect.

Hiteshkumar Patel, the brother-in-law of another wanted man, Nitin Sandesara, was held under house arrest in Tirana after trying to leave Albania when a New Delhi court issued an arrest order for him and the Sandesara brothers.

Indian media said that Patel was the mastermind of the fraud scheme.

The two other wanted suspects, Chetan and Nitin Sandesara, not only received Albanian passports, but one of them was also appointed Consul of Honor in Nigeria.

After these facts were exposed, the Foreign Ministry justified its action by saying that his appointing as Consul of Honor was done by taking in consideration the Vienna Convention.

Patel is the brother-in-law of Nitin Sandesara, who was considered the main figure of the Sterling Biotech company, through which they allegedly took 725 million USD of loans from Indian banks, money that disappeared through a network of 300 offshore companies.
