Excavation of Greek soldiers’ remains
15/02/2013 00:00
The Pojan commune in Korce has rejected the Ministry’s request to
implement the agreement between Albania and Greece for searching,
identifying and exhuming the remains of Greek soldiers who have
allegedly died there during WWII.
This commune has answered negatively to the Interior Ministry request, explaining that no war has taken place in the area and as result there were no victims or cemeteries of Greek soldiers.
According to the head of commune, the residents say that no Greek cemeteries have ever been there, and for this reason they refused to allow excavations in the village.
The Pojan commune is the first unit in Korce that has refused the excavation by the Greek counterparts.
