Excavation for Greek soliders’ remains

Excavations for the remains of Greek soldiers will be held in 31
different locations around Korce, but historians exclude the possibility
that there are human remains belonging to Greek soldiers in the area.

The exact day when the works will start remains unknown, but the Korce vice Mayor declared that there will be only one area within the city.

He declared that the order came through the Interior Ministry, and this municipality answered positively for three locations that then were reduced to one.

“There’s an agreement between the two governments, ratified in Parliament and that has a government decision. The communications that we’ve had with the Interior Ministry instructed us for the locations”, says the vice Mayor Sotiraq Filo.

On the other hand, historians say that Korce has never had a battle where Greek soldiers might have died.

“The Greeks arrived here but they fought in Mokra. There could be some human remains, but not in Korce”, declared historian Nedai Thellimi.

The list has the coordinates for 18 locations in Moglica, Drenova, Dardha, Pojan, Voskop, Pirg, Gore and Liqenas.
