Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Four months after the execution of Judge Skerdelajd Konomi, the
investigations have not been able to find who killed him with a car bomb
and why. The Interior Minister, Bujar Nishani, repeated the stance held
by the Police and the Ministry for this case.
“We stand to the same declarations that we released after the murder. The police have collected evidence and information that we consider as very important for the investigation group, led by the respective prosecutor, for resolving this serious case”, Nishani declared.
On January 21st finishes the additional time that the prosecution took for investigating the event that shook the Albanian state, and it seems that still, there will be no decision.
Even after one year, the Interior Minister declared that the state structures acted in full accordance with the law for protecting the institutions.
“As I have declared before, the organization of people for attacking constitutional institutions is considered a criminal activity. But this is currently being investigated by the Prosecution, and it is up to justice to give the final verdict for all actors that were present in the attack against the constitutional institutions on January 21st”, Nishani declared.
The Minister Nishani also spoke about the undergoing investigations for the people who had falsified documents for demanding asylum with the pretext of blood feuds.
In the meeting with the journalsits, Nishani made a summary of 2011 and their priorities, among which is crime prevention, as one of the novelties that is expected to bring legislative amends in order to ease the procedures of foreign businessmen to take Albanian citizenship.
