A group of European MPs from the EP Foreign Committee will arrive tomorrow in Tirana, on a visit planned months before.
The delegation will make an inventory of the EU reforms made so far by Albania, to see if the country is ready for opening the accession negotiations.
The delegation is composed of seven European MPs and is led by EMP Tunne Kalem, who, before this visit, declared that 2019 is the essential year from which Albania and Macedonia will start a long path of their future.
The MP says that the countries don’t have much time: “There is no time to waste until June, when Brussels will decide either Albania is ready for opening the negotiations.”
EMP Tunne Kelam commented the resignation of mandates by the opposition MPs, including the last protests: “We Condemn the political rhetoric that encourage violence and appeal the opposition to get involved in the Democratic processes of the Parliament. The government and the opposition urge the persons involved to not deteriorate the situation and get involved in constructive discussions.
Part of this delegation will also be Knut Fleckenstein, rapporteur for Albania at the European Parliament.
