One week after the publishing of the EU progress report for Albania, in
which the Commissioner Fule considered that the 12 priorities were
unfulfilled, the EU General Director for Enlargement, Stefano Sanino,
visited Albania in the efforts to mediate for dialogue between the
parties.

Sanino started his series of meetings with the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edmond Haxhinasto.

“Now we have the progress report and we want to guarantee the consolidation of our achievements, and find away to take our common agenda forward, in order to create all necessary conditions for Albania’s approach to the European perspective, so that this perspective turns into a concrete chance for the citizens of this country”, Sanino declared.

“It is important for us to create the conditions for progressing with the European agenda. We must make sure that the European agenda becomes reality for Albania. We now have a very good example, that of the visa liberalization, and we think that it is in the common interest of all citizens of this country to approach to the EU”, Sanino added.

Sanino’s declaration follows the line of all Brussels officials who keep reminding the Albanian politicians of the word “dialogue”, which for the moment seems very distant. But which are the ways to be followed for the European agenda, it still remains unknown.

The Deputy Prime Minister and at the same time Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Edmond Haxhinasto, declared that the progress report for Albania has turned into an important document for the government to progress with its agenda towards the EU.
