The EU condemned the violence shown at the protest of the opposition, underlining that the return to violence is unacceptable.
“The citizens’ right to peacefully express their discontent and concerns is an important part of every democratic society. The EU notes that a number of incidents were reported today in Tirana during the meeting organized by the opposition. The EU underlines that violence is not an acceptable means to express disaccord. The EU underlines that Albania is facing a series of challenges for delicate reforms which require constructive dialogue with all political parties. The progress in the reform agenda is important to take the country ahead in the path towards EU integration and to guarantee the rule of law”, says the EU press conference.
