Albania will have to wait until April for the next progress-report of the European Commission, but this period will also be used by the EU delegation in Tirana to collect information and concerns presented by all involved groups.
The EU Ambassador to Tirana, Romana Vlahutin, reiterated the criteria that Albania needs to fulfill, including fight against cannabis.
“The 2018 Report is very important for Albania and you know why. Last year, the European Commission issued the recommendations for opening the negotiations, with the condition that there is progress by the end of 2017. More specifically, it is about significant steps with the judiciary reform, including the Vetting process, and also constant progress in the fight against cannabis, corruption, public administration reform and protection of basic human rights”, Vlahutin declared.
These declarations were made two days before the Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn, starts a two-day visit in our country. The agenda foresees meetings with all political factors in Albania, civil society and also a visit in Vlora, where they will inspect the construction works for the seaside Promenade, funded by the EU.
