The European Commission keeps monitoring Albania on the implementation
of different policies that are related to the completion of five key
priorities that are necessary foropening the EU accession talks.
The European Commission says they will inform the EU member countriesn on the right time, but the justice reform remains key for the country’s progress in this direction.
Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighboring and Enlargement Negotiations, was asked by Top Channel of when will the European executive start preparing the special report of the 28 member countries for the fulfillment of the key priorities. In his answer, Hahn underlined not only the passing, but also the implementation of the justice reform.
“The justice reform package is key and the same. The justice system is important for all Western Balkan countries. But it is important to stabilize an open society in our country. That’s why we are focusing on it. By what I have understood, Albania is determined to work with the justice reform and implement it. I hope that this will be soon the case, so that another step is fulfilled”, Hahn declared.
A general and all-inclusive reform to reinforce independence, accountability, efficiency and professionalism of the judiciary is considered as a very important step for determining a turning point on the consolidation and law implementation throughout the country, with a long-term and significant impact for the future.
This is why the expectancies of the Commission are for the work to continue through constructive dialogue among all interested parties, by preserving the right pace with the Venice Commission.
