The European Union has given 100 million EUR in the last six years for supporting the environment of our country.

The European Union representative in Tirana, Ettore Sequi, declared that four million Euros were given only in January.

“With a support of an EU fund, the European tax payers have given 4 million EUR. This project started on January 2012 and will continue for 30 months. The EU delegation in Tirana, together with the member countries that have representatives in Albania, are determined to support the Minister of Environment in adopting the directive the Albanian legislation and marine. After this directive will be approved, other implementations will be essential for the protection of the coastline and the ecosystem. This is only one part of the EU tax payers. I would like to underline that the EU has enabled the environmental protection by giving 100 million EUR on this case for the last six years”, the EU Ambassador declared.

“There is a wider space on this, and when we speak about the ecosystems, we understand all parameters that compose them. We don’t understand them only for the biodiversity term, but also for other deeper terms, such as the ideology and morphology, the climate changes and the effect of all these factors on the food chain and the entire scale of biodiversity”, declared the Deputy Minister of Environment, Taulant Bino.

The Albanian coastline has big pollution problems in many areas that also suffer from erosion and waste management. In this conference with the presence of both Ministers of Environment and Economy, was asked the university researches on environment to be supported more by the government.
