The “Madame Butterfly” shown this Thursday at the Royal Opera House in
London was broadcasted live in more than 1500 cinema theaters. The
Albanian Soprano, Ermonela Jaho, playing Cio Cio San, was seen live in
35 countries of the world.
It seems that this is Ermonela’s time. Many prestigious international news outlets have commented her performance with highest regards, including “The Independent”, which considered her “the best Butterfly that London has seen in years”. Michael Church says the Albanian soprano is an unforgettable experience, and her performance was electrifying.
Financial Times starts its article with a comment from Richard Fairman, who says that “Ermonela Jaho gives an emotionally shattering performance in Puccini’s opera. She can be fragile like a butterfly, but also strong as a horse, to lead a powerful orchestra. Same as Puccini created Madame Butterfly, this soprano that looked like she was 15, but with the vocals of a 40-year-old. She had to look Japanese, but the singing style had to be Italian”.
Tim Ashley on “The Guardian” said that Ermonela Jaho is one of the best performers, and that the combination of her vulnerability with strong emotions makes her irresistible.
After shining with Puccini’s “Suor Angelica”at the Royal Opera House, March of 2017 gave her the success of Madame Butterfly’s geisha.
The soprano has been congratulated not only for her international success, but also for the pride she brought to Albania.
