The European Popular Partie shave sent a strong message in favor of opening the EU accession negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia.
The EPP urges the European Commission and the entire European family to not shatter the hopes of the two countries for joining the EU.
“Next week, members of the EU will face a strategic choice regarding the Eu accession negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia. The EPP President, Joseph Daul, has expressed his support from the start for both countries”, the EPP letter says.
“The enlargement policy has been one of the most successful means of bringing peace and stability to our continent. The decision of the member states will affect the stability, security and prosperity of the entire continent, not only of the Western Balkans”, the letter says.
“Albania and Northern Macedonia have made progress. Although there is still much work to be done, opening the negotiations remains the natural step”, the letter underlines.
“Especially the young citizens in these countries deserve a European perspective, as they remain a source of motivation for their countries and for the region as a whole, in order to continue the reforms that are necessary for the rule of law, the strengthening of the judiciary, the fight against corruption, improving relations with the neighbors and guaranteeing media independence”, the EPP letter concludes.
