The European MPs at the EU Commission for Foreign Affairs approved some resolutions this Tuesday.

They welcome the progress made so far and took notes about the remaining tasks that need to be fulfilled by the five Western Balkan countries: Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro.

The resolution for Albania passed with 44 votes in favor, 5 against and 5 abstaining.

The MEPs welcomed the quick progress of our country regarding the European Integration reforms and the steps for reinforcing the impartiality and professionalism of the Albanian Justice.

However, the MPs of this commission remain concerned by the high-level of corruption, the slow progress and inefficiencies of the judiciary system, and by the fact that the lacking rule of law and hard regulatory procedures keep making it difficult to attract foreign investments.

However, the resolution approved the path defined by the European Council for opening the EU Accession Negotiations with Albania in June 2019, with the condition that the country delivers with all required priorities.
