
More than 200 persons with a criminal history in robberies were taken
under police custody last night by the Tirana Police, but none of them
seems to be responsible for the murder of the 37 year old woman,
Fatbardha Tafa, and the wounding of her sister Lumturie Gjana.
The entire police are committed to find the killers of the robbers who left one woman killed and another wounded after they resisted the robbers while they were trying to take their jewels and belongings. Police declared for Top channel that during the investigations they blocked 120 motorcycles that did not have all documents, since the witnesses declared that this was the vehicle used by the robbers.
But there have been no results, despite the suspects that the robbers were around 16-20 years old and their method has been seen in several robberies lately two other neighborhoods of Tirana.
Police says that they arrest every day people who are suspected of street crimes, but the court releases them due to the young age.
The Chiefs of the Tirana Police districts gathered in a meeting while the General Chief of Police, Hysni Burgaj, held an urgent meeting with all police chiefs of the entire country, which was held behind closed doors, but it was reported as a routine meeting.
Mr Burgaj promised that the authors will be caught: “This was a normal working meeting that we normally hold between the police organizations. We are working intensively for resolving this case”, Burgaj declared.
But while the police keeps inspecting every person that has a prior criminal history in robberies, they have offered a phone number for the citizens who might have information about the murderers, and an award of 10.000 EUR with guaranteed anonymity: 129 or 069 41 04 111.
The Police declared that the main concern for the street crime remain the young men from 15 to 24 years of age, especially the contingent that is considered as crime experts with an experience abroad, and another group that is considered the “wandering contingent”, the ones that come to Tirana from other cities and then return home without leaving traces.
Police unofficially reported that one of the biggest problems with the persons they arrest are the mitigating conditions given by the court. According to the police, the criminals of this age group are always released by the Court, each time that they get arrested.
