Energy price will not increase

The Energy Regulation Entity opened the meeting where the new energy fees for 2012 will be decided.

“We will review several points, starting with the investment plan of the Albanian Energy Corporation (KESH), that of the OST and CEZ Distribution. Then we will calculate the fees for the production, the services, wholesale supply, transmission, distribution, retail and the energy price for consumers in the third trimester”, declared Sokol Ramadani, head of the ERE.

The meeting is expected to continue for several hours, and then it will announce the new fees. But Top Channel has been able to receive information that the energy price for the citizens will be unchanged, but there will be changes in the prices that the three companies use between each other.

Confidential sources said for Top Channel that the price that the energy is sold from KESH to CEZ will double from 1.48 ALL to 2.9 ALL. The entity says that with this decision they have taken in consideration all expenses of the respective companies and the new approved fees will enable them to cover these expenses. KESH asked ERE a price increase which was 3.4 times bigger than the initial one, while CEZ proposed two variants, one of which increases the price with 4.6% and the other that left it unchanged, with the condition to have the government pay the debts to CEZ.

The price increase for CEZ seems this time as an indemnification of the last year’s decision, when ERE reduced the energy sale price to CEZ. The government didn’t feel good about this decision, and was followed with the discharge of the then ERE director, Bujar Nepravishta.
