Energy price increase

“The recommendation was not taken in consideration by the ERE. The European Commission 2011 Progress Report clearly states that ERE must take in consideration the Competition Authority recommendations, especially for this”, declared Lindita Lati, chairman of the Competition Authority.

This is not the first case when the Competition Recommendations are ignored by the state institutions. A few times earlier, the Authority asked the Central Bank to return the Treasury Bond exchange tellers for the citizens, but this was also ignored. In these conditions, Chairman Lati asks for a legal solution of this stalemate.

“The recommendations of the Competition Authority should be part of a wider inter-institutional discussion. If we ask the parties where the Competition Commissioner decision is certified, we say that it is the court. The Competition Authority decisions and recommendations can be resolved with a legal instrument, for comparing the opinions and taking a direct decision”, Lati declared.

During the representation of the annual report at the Parliamentary Commission of Economy, the Authority announced that they have officially started the investigation for the car insurance prices.

Mrs. Lati declared that the Authority is investigating several markets in the same time, among which the Air Transportation and Energy.
