The decision of CEZ
Company for dividing to a daily basis the monthly energy consumption of
300 KW, which has a lower cost for the consumer, has put in motion the
Energy Regulatory Entity.

ERE sources said for Top-Channel that after this announcement, ERE established working groups that will monitor the billing process in all districts. According to ERE, the monitoring and verification process could take 10 days, and afterwards, the working groups will send a relation with the respective propositions to the ERE Board of Commissioners, who will take the necessary decision.

Chances are that this decision taken by CEZ will be declared invalid and ERE will oblige the Company to turn back the previous billing scheme. ERE experts say that the agreement and the law on electrical power clearly state that the billing period is one month, and there cannot be billings for shorter or longer periods, because that would violate the legal scheme used by the government to protect the people in need from higher energy prices.

There is only one exception when the billing period is less than one month, and this happens for technical reasons, or more specifically, when the energy meters are faulty. In the last month, CEZ applied a new billing scheme of the electric energy. According to this scheme, a citizen could pay a higher price even under the limit of 300 KWH, if the daily consumption would pass 10 KWH. This happens when the billing period was shorter than one month. For example, if a citizen had consumed 270 KW per hour for 23 days, they would pay 230 with 7.7 ALL and 40 with 13.5 ALL, although under the 300 KW limit.
