Albania has officially started the liberalization of the energy market.
5000 businesses will not supplied by the OSHEE in the next year, but
will buy it in the free market.
“35 kw clients will start buy energy independently starting from this July. They are fewer in numbers and bigger companies. Clients who use 20 kw will start from January 2017, while smaller businesses with 6-10 kw will start by the summer of the next year”, says Entela Cipa from the Ministry of Energy.
Businesses will buy energy from private operators licensed by the Energy Regulation Entity. 1.5 ALL per kilowatt will be paid to the Energy Distribution Company (OSHEE).
Cipa says that the energy network enabling independent supply is ready and the access is guaranteed.
Government data show that businesses that will enter the free market make 15% of the total consumption.
