Emigrants returned from Kakavija border

Greek border authorities have returned more than 30 Albanian families with children born in Greece, when they were entering the neighbouring country to return to their homes and jobs.

The reason given by the authorities is that the city names in their passports should be written in Albanian and English too.

The Border and Migration director in Gjirokaster, Admir Ibrija, met with the Greek authorities who informed him that the passports do not respect the international laws for toponyms which be in two languages.

SP: Situation is unacceptable

The Socialist Party reacted for the return of emigrant families with children born in Greece.

According to the Socialists, the situation is unacceptable,

“The Greek claims for writing toponyms in Greek are unacceptable. As a sovereign country, Albania cannot be asked to write the passports in another language”, the reaction declared.
