Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future With the New Year’s celebrations coming to an end, the Albanian
emigrants who had returned to join their families for the celebrations
are now flocking the border checkpoints to return at their jobs.
It has become now normal on each year for emigrants to stand in queues for hours before giving the documents to cross the border, because the Greek part of the border administration uses only two tolls and at some moments they have even used one.
Statistics show that 3100 persons have crossed the border through the Kapshtica checkpoint in the last 24 hours. The Albanian side of the border administration has used four tolls, enabling a normal passage. But the neutral area was filled with cars, waiting in line the Greek tolls to finish checking documents.
