Elections in universities, campaign for new leaders

In all public universities of the country, this week is expected to
officially start the campaign for the election of deans and rectors.
This campaign will continue until the end of February, and the competitors will also be many names that today keep these posts. One of the articles of the high education law was amended a few days ago, and allows the deans and rectors to be reelected for two consequent mandates, and not one, as the previous law provided.
The experts confirmed that the current limitation that cannot be found in other legislation, prevents the chances of a good work to continue, and decreases the interest of the people who exert this duty. Although in 2008, the government approved the law that limited the mandates to one, for not allowing incumbent leaders to rerun.
The preliminary data indicate that many deans and rectors will run again, but there will also be new names. The Faculty of Medicine is expected to have three new candidacies for the dean. The Faculty of Economy will also have new candidacies. But the specific name list will be revealed after some days, when they will receive the official paperwork from the Ministry of Education for the launch of the campaign.
