Elbasan, prefect reacts for waste emergency

For some days now, the city of Elbasan has not had a regular waste
management process. The waste bins have been full and the Prefect of the
district, Shefqet Deliallisi, considered this situation a civil
emergency.

He requested an urgent meeting of the Municipal Council and asked the Mayor Sejdini to take measures. After this declaration, the company contracted by the Elbasan Municipality returned to its work for cleaning the city.

The company has suspended its work several times, by causing massive pollution in the city.

Elbasan has suffered waste management issues even in the past. They are currently dumped and burned in an area near the city, where they cause a great environmental pollution.
