Elbasan, pollution within domestic norms

Air pollution in the industrial areas around Elbasan is within the norms
for our country. This is the result of the monitoring team established
by the former Deputy Prime Minister, Edmond Haxhinasto. For the first
time pollution has been compared to the Albanian norms.

But the group doesn’t give how the norms change with the EU. Specialists from the Public Health Institution and the Regional Environmental Directory made several measurements in the industrial zone of Elbasan.

Specialists say that the respiratory dust is within the Albanian norms, although it is higher than the EU norm.

The Director of the Regional Environment Directory was more reserved, saying that the specialists will keep monitoring the industrial zones and the surrounding areas, while he underlines that pollution comes also as result of the increased number of constructions, damaged roads and traffic.

Vlorë, burned waste pollution

The Ministry of Environment fined the Vlore District with 1 million ALL for burning was materials 100 meters from the historic center of the city.

Inspections have shown that the waste materials are not burned with the right technology. Specialists say that the pollution has increased sensibly due to this procedure.

This field that collects the waste materials does not fulfill any technical condition and creates concerns at the residents. According to the ecologists, Vlore has been burning the waste materials on the same spot.
