Elbasan local leaders warned for urban wastes

The Prefect of Elbasan, Shefqet Deliallisi, has gathered all heads of
the communes for discussing about the environmental pollution.
He asked them to clean the territories, since the tourist season is approaching. The meeting comes after Prime Minister Berisha noted the danger of the tourist season due to the pollution.
The head of the Environmental Regional Agency, Adi Madhi, declared that there is no work coordination between the respective institutions, provoking a massive pollution of the environment. He spoke with harsh tones, saying that in every local unit there are offices for the environment, but they are not functional and none of the specialists has an action plan for managing the wastes.
Madhi also asked the local unit leaders to take measures for cleaning the respective territories until April 20th. The fines that have been given will be suspended until April 20th, and if nothing will change, there will be penal prosecution.
Madhi declared that all local units have environmental permits for collecting the urban wastes, but Elbasan keeps being an ecological bomb for its citizens.
