Education Commission reviews complaint

The members of the Parliamentary commission for the Media and Education have reviewed the complaints of the Foreign Languages faculty for the transfer of 25 professors of the English Language Department to other faculties. The decision of the Supervising Council of the University, according to the chairman of the Commission, damages the autonomy.

“Article 36 clearly states the competences of the Faculty’s Council, and in the case in question we have a complete disregard of the Council of Faculty and the faculty itself. The faculty was not asked about this, and it is not normal. We have a legal infringement of the autonomy”, Leskaj declared.

“After receiving information, we could make an analysis. There’s no sense judging others or become take one side, either that of the University or that of the Ministry”, MP Mark Marku declared.

The MPs asked explanations from the Minister of Education.

“The Faculty of Foreign Languages should employ even more professors and personnel for achieving its objective, the obligatory foreign language test, which will be part of the high school graduation tests in 2014, while we see the Minister and the Personnel cutting staff. It seems like an agreement between the rector and the Minister”, declared the Socialist MP, Ledi Shmaku.

A few times ago, the dean of the Foreign Languages Faculty made a complaint about this decision.
