Albania is the second poorest nation in Europe, but its families sacrifice more than others for education.
Eurostat of the EU cooperated with the Albanian INSTAT and showed that while EU families spend 1.1% of the monthly budget on education, with Lithuania having the lowest with 0.5%, Greece the highest with 2.1%, Albanians spend 4.2%, twice more than greece and four times more than the EU average.
Official data show that burden of education for Albanian families has increased each year more, and this might be related to the expansion of private universities and the fact that Albanians now stay longer at school.
According to INSTAT, half of the funds that families spend for education go to master programs. However, numbers show that exducation in Albania is a real economic sacrifice.
