Eduard Selami, former founder and leader of the Democratic Party, is
expected to be part of the new right winged Party that is related with
the name of the Albanian President, Bamir Topi.

Sources from the organizers of this new party say for “Shqip” newspaper that they have contacted with Selami, who currently lives in the USA, and he has accepted to be part of the new party that is expected to be announced by the end of February.

The negotiations between the organizers and Selami are focused on the fact that he must be a participant in Albania, when this party will come on the political scene. Then he is expected to return in Albania and the party, when he will have resolved the personal issues that have kept him away from Albania for many years.

On the other side, the sources say that January has been a very intensive month for the organizers of the newest right winged party, which is expected to announce the program and some of the members by February 2012.

During his visit in Tirana, in 2010, for the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Democratic Party, Selami held a warm meeting with the President Bamir Topi, with whom they discussed about the latest developments in Albania and the need for consolidating the democracy in the country. In this meeting was absent the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, by whom this meeting was seen with cold spirits.
