“Indefinite boycott to the process of autumn exams and teaching academic year until this issue is resolved. I have the authorization and determination of council and all the staff that we will not retreat without giving solution to this problem.”

This is what said on Wednesday the Faculty Dean Sulo Haderi. After several weeks protest against the construction of a building in the courtyard of the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty Council has decided to boycott all activities of the Faculty, until they suspend the construction of the building in the courtyard of the Faculty.

Dean says that through a long correspondence, all the responsible institutions are informed, but except for rare presence of any municipal police, none of them has reacted, including the Municipality of Tirana.

The decision to boycott the educational activities of this Faculty has found support on the Rectorate of the University, Economic Faculty Council said, adding that the concern for constructions near its territory is bigger. The entire faculty say they’ve remained as an isolated island, surrounded by buildings, houses and premises, in most of them without permission, even up in the area that is part of the university campus.

Teaching staff and students of Economics said that in parallel with the boycott they will protest every day at 12.00 and express confidence that they will find the support of other faculties.
