The Institution of Statistics reported that the economy has returned on
positive paces this second trimester, with the GDP rising with 2.04%,
compared to the same period of 2011.
According to INSTAT, the sectors with the biggest production growth were post-telecommunication, with 9.9%, industry with 6.4%, and agriculture and services with 5.6%.
The construction sector has continued dropping with 18.4% in the second trimester, compared to the same period of 2011.
The 2.04% growth, although low, returns the Albanian economy to a positive pace, after the 0.2 growth marked in the first trimester.
But even with the improvement of the second trimester, the economy is still far from the government’s expectancies. Numbers show that the GDP has increased with 0.98 this semester, compared to the first semester of 2012, which is still very low.
The government had foreseen an economic growth of 4.3%, which they were obliged to correct to 3%. But even that level is hard to get achieved, now that more than half of the year has gone by.
