The European Commission handed over to the European Council and the
European Parliament the fifth monitoring report since the visa
liberalization with the Balkan Countries, as sanctioned by the member
countries on October 2010, when they decided to change the regime with
Albania and Bosnia.

The document refers mainly to periodic risk analyzes drafted by Frontex during the past year, as published on Top Channel.

According to the Commission, the most demands for asylum come from Serbia, with 42% for 2014. 21% come from Albania and Macedonia for the same period. However, the report notes a growing tendency from the Albanian citizens and a dropping tendency for Macedonians. Asylum seekers from Bosnia are 14% and from Montenegro only 2%.

The officials of the Commission who visited Albania last April calculate 4 applicants for every 1000 residents. France, Sweden, Great Britain are the main destinations of the Albanian people.

Despite the fact that only 8.1% of the asylum seekers have received international protection at the EU during 2013, the Albanian citizens have a higher norm of acception than other countries of the region.

The illegal border crossing from Balkan to the EU increased with 27% during 2013, based on the reports of Frontex. The European Commission says that they had 40.000 cases, 18.000 of whom wer from the region, including Kosovo. 22.000 others come from non-European countries.

According to the report of the Commission, the Albanians have the highest indicator in the region for illegal stay in Schengen countries, with 42%, followed by the Serbs with 25% and Kosovo citizens with 16%. Greece, Germany, France and Hungary top the list of the most affected countries in the EU for this problem.

Albania is among the third listed countries, whose citizens try to enter the EU with false documents. 85% of the cases discovered from Balkan come from Albanians, 8% from Serbs, 4% from Kosovo. The Commission reports that most of the Albanian citizens traveled with false ID cards from Italy or Greece.
