EC rejects Albania, Berisha: Here are our achievements

The Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, exactly one day after the
European Commission gave the negative result for Albania’s EU
integration process, listed the achievements that according to him have
been made by his government, mentioning the pension and wage increase,
the improvements in education and the growth of foreign investments.

“We will build a productive Albania. We have tripled the exports in six years. Because we have followed these standards, we have had wage increases”, Berisha declared, while his speech has been followed by constant reactions from the opposition MPs.

Berisha accused the opposition of acting against the important laws, with the only goal of decreasing the economic level of the Albanian citizens and their isolation.

Berisha invited the opposition to work for the electoral reform, and guaranteed that the Socialists’ propositions, after receiving the approval of the Commission of Venice, will be voted in Parliament.

“We are ready to review the Parliament regulation. Let us see the Regulation of the European Parliament and compare the standards. You want to become spokespersons of the President? Fine! Don’t forget that we are the sovereign majority of the Albanian people”, Berisha added.

Ruci: Albania’s credibility was lost

The Socialist Parliamentary Group leader, Gramoz Ruci, declared that Europe refused to give us the candidate status, since Albania has not realized any of the recommendations. Ruci considered as a paradox blaming the opposition for this failure.

“Mr. Outgoing Prime Minister, you must respond for destroying in front of the entire world the credibility of our country. Albania will need a lot of time to repair this wrong perception. This refusal has a financial cost”, Ruci declared.

The SP Parliamentary Group leader repeated the offer for dialogue.

“I demand a special session for a motion regarding the EC progress report, and the Albanian political class should give explanations”, Ruci declared.
