Dynamite fishing in Bistrica River

The illegal fishing with explosives is definitively destroying the Bistrica River in southern Albania.
The river is being attacked with dynamite by disappearing 80% of the species. The residents at the Mesopotam commune say that the explosions continue for years and sometimes have created panic among passerby people or tourists.
Amateur and professional fishermen are the ones who feel the consequences the most.
Bistrica is the clearest river in Albania and it served as home to 50 types of fishes, including the river pestrova, now almost disappeared. 10 dynamite accidents have taken place in the last five years with dynamite, with the users losing their limbs or even harder damages.
