The Durres branch of the Democratic Party reported Mayor Vangjush Dako over power abuse and environmental pollution.
Osman Stafa, leader of this DP branch, declared that this crime has been committed under the care of Mayor Dako, who, according to him, allowed waste materials to be burned and pollute the Porto Romano and Durres air.
Stafa says that pollution levels surpass norms allowed by the Albanian environmental legislation and of International Conventions for protecting the environment, all ratified by the Albanian government.
Waste incineration has been a hot topic for the Albanian politics and environment. The Ministry of Environment confirmed a few months ago that the government had prepared the construction of a landfill in Manza.
