Durres, budget endangers tourist season

Although we’re in May, no public investment has been carried out on the beginning of the Durres Tourist season.

The immediate change of the environmental conditions brings the attention to the critical situation that the tourist season faces even this year.  The coastal city still has no confirmed budget. The approval oft he fiscal package of 2012, in January, without the predicted tax increase and other municipal fees, which affected the revenues of the budget and the planning of the project budget that has not been presented for review at the Municipal Council. Mayor Vangjush Dako declared that the situation has been created due to the lack of political will between the Council members, in which the majority is held by the Democratic Party.

This situation is withholding a series of investments that must be realized before the tourist season starts, starting from the funds for beach communal enterprises, the infrastructure that enables hygiene and illumination, and the activities that will revive the hot season by offering entertainment and artistic pleasure for the local and foreign visitors.

Last years brought very low tourist revenues, due to the problems caused by the Municipal Council and the political stances.
