Durres beach littered

The marine currents and the lack of a processing system for the urban
wastes in the country are causing emergency situation in our Adriatic
coastline.

Considerable amounts of urban wastes have been brought by the tides on the beach, creating a long line of waste.

The situation seems serious and the Durres cleaning authorities have started working. This pollution is result of the lack of a waste management system, a situation that the Head of the Regional Environment Agency of Durres says that is beyond their capacities.

The rivers and their deltas have turned into a waste dump site for big villages and cities. South and North of Durres collect the waters of the Shkumbin, Seman, Erzen, Ishem and Mat Rivers.

All rivers discharge tons of waste materials to the seas, including a considerable amount of industrial and chemical wastes.
