The leader of the United for Human Rights Party, Vangjel Dule, called
Prime Minister Rama in an interpellation this Thursday, regarding the
issue of respecting the national minorities.

The Albanian Prime Minister answered to this concern by saying that Albania is proud about the respecting of minorities.

Vangjel Dule: “A law on national minorities would complete the existing legal vacuum and would make clear the policies for minorities. This comes from the Council of Europe, not from the UHRP”.

Edi Rama: We can be proud of this and no one can lecture us on this aspect.

Vangjel Dule: If you really feel that our country can lecture about this situation, let’s invite the Council of Europe and let’s give them a lecture, so that they don’t repeat these mistakes in their reports.

Edi Rama: The registration was not made in favorable conditions, and with a big resistance for another aspect, which makes us champion in Balkan for the declaration of the nationality. The only good thing of the economic crisis in our neighbor’s house is that those abusive pensions were stopped here in Albania. This is an achievement for reinforcing the mutual relations.

Vangjel Dule: Himara is a space where there is no room for other speculations. There is a traditional and considerable presence of the Greek ethnic minority.

Edi Rama: Himara is not a minority. Himara is not an area that should be treated as a place where the rights of the minorities have been denied. If you have claims for Himara, then you should add Tropoja, Kukes, Dibra, Shkoder, Elbasan and all the rest, and make it a package like it was done by those who are absent here today.
