Top Channel’s investigative program, “Fiks Fare”, treated today what can be called as a scandal for the Albanian diplomacy.

After being informed by a Czech daily newspaper that an Albanian diplomatic vehicle had been used for drug traffic, Fiks Fare decided to investigate.

Journalist Juli Ristani traveled to Prague, where she interviewed the head of the Anti-Drug department in the Czech Republic, Jakob Friedrich, who declared that their investigations proved that the drug dealer had used the vehicle of the embassy.

“The person that is being investigated was using a vehicle of the Albanian Embassy. According to our investigations, he has been using it from 2004 to 2010. He had a written permission from the embassy, but he had no diplomatic passport, and this means that he could not use the vehicles of the embassy”, Friedrich declared.

The Czech chief of the anti-drug police also declared that they had contacted with the Albanian embassy in Prague, which admitted of having cooperated with the drug dealer, the one identified with the surname Saraci.

“The Albanian Embassy confirmed that the person under investigation had communicated with the Albanian embassy. You have to ask the embassy for what he had contacted them. The connection between him and the embassy is the fact that he was able to use the car, but I cannot say more than this”, Friedrich said.

“The Embassy initially told us that this person had received permission to use a diplomatic vehicle, and that he was an adviser at the Albanian Embassy. But he cannot use a diplomatic car without diplomatic immunity”, Friedrich specified.

Mr. Friedrich confirmed that the Albanian Ambassador to Prague had asked him to deny the news that appeared on the Czech newspaper, but he had refused, because he was not the author of the report.

The Albanian Ambassador in the Czech Republic, Genc Pecani, declared for Top Channel that the Czech newspaper had denied the news and had apologized with the embassy.

He reiterated that during the time that he has led the Albanian Embassy in Prague, the person who is under investigation has never used any diplomatic cars.

“The best answer is that the newspaper itself has denied the news. I contacted with the Foreign Ministry, and there was no evidence that implicated this person with the vehicles of the Embassy”, he continues.

“The person who is under investigation did not have Albanian diplomatic passport. Mr. Friedrich said to me that he had no evidence that connected this person with the embassy. I don’t know him and I have never met him”, Ambassador Pecani declared.

The diplomatic vehicle is officially used by the consul of the Albanian Embassy in Prague, Katerina Celo, who confirmed for Top Channel that she had acquaintances with the Kosovan trafficant, but she denied that he had used the vehicle for drug traffic.

“I know him as I know many other Albanians in the Czech Republic”, she declared.

The Albanian Foreign Ministry declared for Top Channel that they had no data indicating that the vehicle had been used by an unauthorized person.
