Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Municipal Council of Vlore, with the proposition of Mayor Shpetim
Gjika, honored the late President of Top Media, Dritan Hoxha, with the
title Citizen of Honour.
Dritan Hoxha has received other similar honors in Tirana, Prishtina and Tetovo for the great contribution given through the media for the unification of Albanians and for the unification of the official Albanian language, but this title comes for the 100th anniversary of independence and it comes exactly from the symbolic city of this event, Vlore.
The Mayor of Vlore, Shpetim Gjika, declared that this proposition was made in sign of appreciation for the extraordinary contribution that Dritan Hoxha gave with his work.
“I propose this title for the president of Top Media, Dritan Hoxha, who even though he was not from Vlore, through the media that he founded he knew how to promote through national emotions everything positive that Albania has had”, Gjika declared.
The Vlore Municipal Council voted for declaring Citizens of Honor nine other personalities, among whom was the academic Rexhep Qosja, who is absent in the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of independence since there is no official invitation from the state. Gjika also honored with this title the former US Ambassador to Tirana, John Withers, and the former Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj.
