Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Socialist Party followed the same strategy as with the
Constitutional draft law for immunity, asking the Commission of laws to
postpone the discussion for the Supreme Court draft-law. Since the
Socialist Party package includes it too, the opposition related its
review with the end of discussion for its Constitutional amends
initiative.
“We cannot accept to make this debate for the Supreme Court without ending the process that we have started regarding the Constitutional Reform”, declared Socialist MP Fatmir Xhafaj.
The law for the Supreme Court includes some amends that are related with the Administrative Court, without the approval of which this Court cannot start functioning. For this reason, the Democratic Party chairman of the Commission of Laws, Ilir Rusmali, asked the Socialists if the Parliament could approve only these amends. The Socialists’ answer was clear.
“Don’t we have the alternative to open way to the Administrative Court law implementation through a minimal number of amends, which we have approved according to your vision, as you asked it? We have made it exactly as you wanted it, but you still don’t want it. Do we have this alternative, or not? Or do we want to block the Constitution amends, the Immunity Law, together with the Administrative and Supreme Courts? This was your goal?”, Rusmali declared.
“Whatever variant will be chosen, this draft-law must be reviewed according to the time that we left to ourselves for the Constitutional amends. If we don’t make the reform on time, we will make amends only for the Administrative Court”, Xhafaj declared.
In these conditions, Rusmali declared that he will inform the Conference of Chairmen for the intentional stalemate created by the opposition and will ask the removal of the Supreme Court law from the schedule, leaving one of the 12 conditions for the Candidate Status unsolved.
