The draft law that is expected to pass to Parliament for the Foreign
Service of Albania was consulted with representatives of NGOs that are
related with diplomatic matters.
The deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edmond Haxhinasto, considered the opinion of NGOs as a necessity, and explained what this draft-law aims.
“We think that there is room for improvements. The admission system for the foreign service is the first step of the selection, in which the values are identified and engaged. This process should be as transparent, complete, qualitative and open for everyone. The slow career scaling should be connected with the respective qualifications at every step”, Haxhinasto declared.
Some months earlier, the opposition MP, Taulant Balla, accused the government for nepotism in some embassies. He also listed the cases when these promotions were against the law.
