DP-SMI unified voting confirmed

Since last Monday, the Parliament has started working twice a week. This
has not been happening since 2009, when the Socialist Party was
boycotting the Parliament. But today’s session was among the most
interesting of these four years.

Without being clear about the position of the Socialist Movement for Integration in the coalitions of the next elections, the MPs of both sides agreed and voted in favour for laws that set the same compensation price for land owners, even if the new destination of the property will be commercial or a park.

Certainly there were government laws that the opposition didn’t voted. Other laws too received consensual votes between the SMI and the DP, such as the voting for the presidential decrees, for the three Supreme and Constitutional Court members, while the government voted in favour.

The Socialists and Democrats debated about the VAT removal law, with the opposition accusing the government of passing laws that the opposition had already brought and were rejected.

“The opposition has brought laws like these three times in the past, and you have opposed it, saying exactly the contrary of what you are saying today. We greet your penitence, but these laws are not complete. You should have removed oil and medicaments’ excise. However, welcome to our proposition”, declared Gramoz Ruci from the opposition.

“Mrs.Parliament Speaker, bring the law and read it to them. Bring them the laws for imported wheat, imported apples, imported beans and potatoes. You wanted to remove VAT from eggs and milk. You wanted to kill the domestic production. This is not our policy. Our policy is to encourage domestic production with all the legal means. That’s why we brought this law. Compare it, if you want”, Berisha declared.

The opposition accused the Prime Minister of not keeping the promises given in 2009. Gramoz Ruci quoted Berisha’s promsies, and Berisha answered.

“You promised to resolve the property title issue within 2011, and complete the legalization process in the entire territory within September 2010. You have done less than 10%”, Ruci declared.

“I have some news for you, but you will not be happy to hear it. The World Bank, after a series of tests, concluded that the Albanian digital system for the property has received a certification of the highest quality. But you live in a world of lies and you cannot see things as they are”, Berisha declared.

As for the legalizations, for which he blamed Edi Rama as Mayor, the Prime Minsiter made another promise.

“Second thing after legalizations that you hate most are incomes. You call them primitive, cavemen… but I call them citizens and I will do everything for making their life normal, that ‘s why you will have to vote very soon the law that legalizes all constructions made since 2006 and until today”, Berisha declared.
