DP: Criminal prosecution for Spahiu

The Chairman of this Commission, Enkelejd Alibeaj, declared that the Commission identified power abuses related with the HCJ decisions and financial violations with the travels abroad.

“Kreshnik Spahiu, directly and in full awareness, has derived from the Constitutional function as vice Chairman of the HCJ, at the same time a member of it, and has replaced it with clear political activities. He has abused with administrative and financial competences of the institution”, Alibeaj declared.

“He has abandoned the post for a long time, in function of his political agenda, without notifying the Constitutional organisms with which his Constitutional duty is related. This Commission has the legal obligation to formulate and transmit the respective recommendations; to propose the Albanian Parliament to send the final report to the General Prosecution and evaluate the state of this report for criminal prosecution”, he declared.

The next step, according to Alibeaj, will be to send the final report to the HCJ, with the purpose to evaluate the results and make possible the return of the financial amounts appropriated unjustly by Mr. Kreshnik Spahiu.

The report was approved only by the Democratic members of the Commission, since the opposition is not part of this investigation.
