Central Election Commission will review this Monday Democratic Party’s appeal on local elections result, together with two
appeals from the Socialist Party and one from the Popular Party of
Pensioners.

The core of Democratic Party’s appeal is that many voting centers have had contested ballots that must be taken in consideration.

More specifically, 26 voting centers in 4 Tirana Municipal Units, no. 3, 5, 8 and 9.

The Democratic Party requested the outcoming result of these ballots to be included in the summary table.

According to DP calculations, there are 403 contested ballots which must be added to the final result for Tirana, which CEC closed on May 23rd.

DP argues that by adding these ballots, the trust and legitimacy of the election process will be improved. They want these ballots to be reviewed, reassessed, recounted and added to the final result of the Tirana Municipality.

In this request, DP says that this action is completely legal, because these ballots have been declared as doubted votes, although they have undergone all Zonal Election Commission procedures, and their result is included in the table.

On the other side, SP appealed at the Central Election Commission the final summary table of the elections results for Tirana Municipality, and also the summary table for Zonal Election 49.

The two Albanian biggest political parties addressed these appeals to the Central Election Commission two days ago, two hours after the legal deadline.
