Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The government decided to suspend the procedures for leasing the
building of the High School Dormitory of Foreign Languages in Tirana.
According to the Tirana University, the causes for this were some violations identified by the Anti-Corruption Directory in the tender procedure. This tender comes after the request of the Tirana University for passing the dormitory to their administration, which is being reviewed. According to Rector Dhori Kule, the dormitory building would help us improving the University in the conditions when the number of students increases.
“The faculty of History and Philology, the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Faculty of Natural Sciences need more premises, and we have our legal right to demand a public object that can be used for public interests. The negative reaction shows that we are on the right track”, the rector declared.
Kule underlined that the financial abuse accusations that were made public in the media were caused by the stance he held regarding the dormitory.
Kule: We are distributing the professors
During the conference, Kule referred to the reaction of 28 English Faculty professors that opposed the decision for being transferred in other faculties.
“After the other faculties decided to have the English Faculty professors and the auto-administration of the Foreign Language faculty under their competences, the Administration Council has decided that some of the English Faculty professors should continue their work at these respective faculties”, Kule declared.
The English Faculty professors say that they have been graduated and specialized to work at the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and not to work in faculties where English is an inferior subject. The professors opposed the decision and filed a complaint to the Ministry of Education.
