“Dogs under control”

The number of Albanians who keep pets such as pit bulls, rottweiler or doberman has increased significantly.

The veterinary doctors say that many Albanians prefer dangerous breeds of dogs, although in many countries of the world, these animals are legally considered as weapons.

“Rottweiler is a strong dog that is also used in war. The German Shepherd is also a strong dog. Without the necessary treatment, these animals are very dangerous and problematic. Even street dogs are very aggressive in the heat season”, experts say.

These dogs should be vaccinated and masks should be obligatory.

“Dog owners in general are not well informed and do not ask the veterinary doctors for advices. Dogs should be trained and educated”, the veterinaries say.

Albania has just passed the law that obliges pet owners to respect the rules for the way they let them out in public and how they educate them.

“The law has decided that when an owner has a problematic dog, he will be fined if the animal will be found in public without a mask”, the veterinaries say.

But in fact, in the roads of Tirana we can see dangerous dogs without masks and who are a constant danger for the people.

The citizens ask for the state structures to be more responsible towards this phenomenon. A few days ago, a person was attacked by a pit bull, receiving severe wounds in different parts of the body.
