Disabled voters’ request

120.000 disabled people will vote on June 23rd only if the government
will fulfil their requests for wheelchairs and special ballots for the
blind.
The Head of the Disabled People Council presented these requests during a meeting with the Central Election Commission in presence of OSCE.
“The blind people need to vote independently and secretly. The voting centres should be on the first floors of buildings and with ramps near the stairs. Public and private TVs should give information for the voting procedures even in the sign language. Disabled people should have some privileges and not wait in lines”, Tafaj declared.
Tafaj added that he found the understanding of the CEC Chairwoman, while other CEC sources say that a special fund was given to fulfil these requests, so that disabled people could have equal chances during the voting process.
The Council of Disabled People and the local units will send to CEC the lists of disabled people with the right to vote.
