Disabled people in protest

When the Council of Ministers gathered for the decision of the
compensation of  disabled people with the electricity and phone bills,
many blind and paraplegic people gathered in front of the Prime
Minister’s office in protest against the reduction of the compensation
price.

“The decision that the government is trying to approve is giving 2.000 ALL for electricity, 1000 ALL for phone communication, and the second category will receive only 1400 ALL. The real benefit is really reduced to only 64 kw/monthly”, declared Sinan Tafaj, Chairman of the Disabled People Association.

A disabled man has traveled from Elbasan for showing that he has paid 11.500 ALL of electricity for April, because the compensation had not been recognized by CEZ.

“I have paid 11.500 ALL on April and I appeal you to review the decision or let us as we used to be. We were hoping that you would keep your promises and give us even more, but you removed us the law for shelters, compensations… what else is there to take from us”, says the elderly disabled man.

Revolted about the reduction of the electricity and phone bills compensations, the disabled people reminded Minister Bode that they had promised on March 15th, in Parliament, that the law amends would increase the compensation, rather than reducing it.

The disabled people declared that they feel offended by the government with the compensation reduction to 2000 ALL for electricity bills and 1000 ALL for the phone bills, while the old law used to cover 80% of the CEZ bill.
