The Director of the Development Sector at the Tax Office, Gjergji
Nestori, refused the presence of cameras during today’s session of the
Parliamentary Investigative Commission for the Tax Server. The
Commission accepted his request and the cameras filmed without facing
him.

Nestori said he doesn’t think the audit group had made a full audit for five days, but during this time they have noticed the absence of 4 million business declarations.

“I was never informed that the old IT system had interventions from the outside. As for the VAT, the system was showing only the final reimbursement process of VAT, now the way how documents were drafted”, Nestori declared.

The commission asked the former IT Director, Renald Rista, who was arrested by the police. He said his direct superior, the Tax Director, had verbally ordered him to create access for the Audit Group from the Minister of Finances. Rista says this group has committed illegal activities with the data.

Rista said he had learned after being released that the questions made to him to the Prosecution were written by people affiliated with politics. Rista says the cloned data could be used by politicians or criminals to blackmail businesses.
